Important Financial Considerations
The UAE does not levy income tax on individuals.
In the UAE Pro League, football players are typically paid on a net
basis. This means that the salaries reported by the clubs are the
amounts players receive after taxes and deductions, as there is no
income tax on salaries in the UAE.
FIFPRO data indicates that the non-payment risk for players in the UAE
can vary, but it has been noted that concerns regarding salary
payments exist. While the UAE has mechanisms in place to protect
players, instances of delayed or unpaid wages have been reported.
Playing football in the UAE has been an incredible experience as the UAE continues
to progress in sports culture rapidly. The stadiums and the facilities I experienced
in training were nothing short of the highest quality. The UAE offers a perfect blend
of tradition and modernity. The lifestyle here is unmatched as everyone probably
knows, embracing families and a diverse culture here is what makes the UAE more
than just a place to play football. The competition continues to progress and
increasingly more players are making the jump to the UAE, including stars from top
leagues such as Elneny from Arsenal.
