Immigration Rules
The most used visa by professional athletes and coaches is the Egyptian Work Visa. This
visa is initially valid for one year. Players must apply for a temporary entry visa and
request a work permit upon arriving in Egypt. The work permit application is initiated by
the club. The Ministry of Manpower must authorise the relevant Embassy/Consulate to
issue an entry visa for travel to Egypt. Upon arrival, the work permit application is
finalised, which includes taking an HIV test. Once approved, the temporary visa is
converted into a work visa and a residence card is issued. The Egyptian club must
submit documents and a justification for signing a foreign national as part of a work
permit application.
Player Requirements
Appropriate qualifications/experience.
A negative HIV test.
Dependents
Residence permits are available for spouses and children under 18. Dependents can
study and work without restrictions.
Applications
Initial applications for the temporary entry visa must be made at an Egyptian
Embassy/Consulate in the player’s country of residence. The process can take up to two
months but can be expedited for an additional fee. This visa route can lead to permanent
residency once the applicant has lived in Egypt for ten years.
