Livida Sport: A Global Guide to Football Transfers - Second Edition - Manual / Resource - Page 77
Important Financial Considerations
Saudi Arabia has no income tax, so players receive their agreed-upon
salary as their take-home amount. However, there is corporation tax in
some areas, so players should be cautious about using image rights
companies when relocating.
In the Saudi Pro League, players are typically paid on a net basis. This
means that the salaries reported by clubs are the amounts players
receive after tax deductions, as there is no income tax on salaries in
Saudi Arabia
The risk of delayed or unpaid salaries is medium. In 2022, FIFPRO
warned players about non-payment issues in Saudi Arabia, leading to
claims made to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. However, this
problem has become less frequent over the past two years due to
increased global scrutiny of the league and its clubs, as well as the
country9s (successful) bid to host the FIFA World Cup.
Football in Saudi Arabia is an important aspect of their
culture and has been one of best channels of
communication between the Kingdom and the rest of the
world. I feel blessed being part of the evolution that
Saudi Arabia is bringing to the football world. The vision
is clear and the citizens have embraced it. Sky is the limit.

Joining Riyadh FC as one of the first U21 players to make an international
transfer to Saudi Arabia is a massive milestone for me personally and for
the development of football in Saudi. It was a natural step to wanting to
play in what is becoming the most exciting and talked about league
globally. As the opportunities are limitless, I am excited to continue to
push boundaries and grow in a league that’s breaking new ground.
