Immigration Rules
The Greek residence permit is the main visa for non-EU players aged 18 and over. To
enter Greece initially, specific nationals may need a Schengen Type C visa first from the
Greek Consulate in their country of residence.
Player Requirements
A declaration of consent from the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF).
An agreed employment contract with a Greek football club.
For the Schengen visa, proof of accommodation is needed.
Dependents
Dependents can accompany the player. This includes dependents over the age of 18, but
this will be examined on a case-by-case basis. However, their permit will generally not be
granted until four months after residing in Greece. The permit will be granted for the
same duration as the player. Dependents can study and work without restriction.
Applications
Applications for the Schengen visa are made outside Greece. There is no expedited
process available to secure a residence permit. After seven years in the country,
individuals can apply for permanent residency.
