Immigration Rules
The Sports Work Visa is used for professional athletes and coaches and can be valid for
up to five years. Players from Latin America tend to be granted concessions and can
apply for permanent residence without first requiring temporary residence. A player must
be at least 16 years old to be eligible for this visa. The club must initiate the visa process
with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Brazil.
Player Requirements
An employment contract with a Brazilian club.
Dependents
Spouses, partners, and dependent children can accompany the player on a residence
permit matching the duration of the player9s. Dependents can study and, under certain
conditions, may work.
Applications
Applications must typically be submitted at a Brazilian Embassy/Consulate in the
applicant9s country of residence before entry. Players can apply for permanent residency
after four years of continuous residency in Brazil.
