Liga F
4/31
Liga F is the top tier of women9s football in Spain. Featuring 16 teams, the league is
home to some of Europe9s most talented players and is experiencing rapid growth,
marked by increased media attention and fan support.
This surge in interest has prompted the Spanish government to implement legislation
aimed at promoting gender equality in sports, including measures to improve conditions
for players in Liga F. Players now benefit from a collective bargaining agreement
(endorsed by 97% of players), which sets a minimum annual salary of €22,500 (excluding
bonuses and incentives) and includes enhanced rights relating to maternity leave,
childcare and mental health support.
What are the foreign player rules?
Each team can have a maximum of five non-EU foreign players and must have a
minimum of six home-grown players. A homegrown player is defined as a player who,
between the ages of 15-21, has been registered either with the same club for a period of
at least three full seasons (or 36 months) or, a player who has been registered for a
period of at least five full seasons (or 60 months) with any other club in Spain.
